Sands of Time

Photography taken by Peter Adrian

I told myself, "If I don't post RIGHT now, I will never blog this look." Hello readers, how is it going? I know, weird hearing from me since its been over a month! I am back with a quick summer look. The Cali weather has been blazing hot!
The vintage long sleeve polo I am wearing, was thrifted a while back. It is made of a thin cotton material, which is why I am wearing it during the summer with my sleeves rolled up. (haha) I love the color panels of this piece! I chose to keep a color scheme of those you would find in beach sand. Summer appropriate right? Anyways, the bottoms are cream shorts made of nylon and polyester. They are extremely comfortable and light! The last touches of sophistication are a combo of vintage wingtips and a black leather watch. Post soon. 'Til then! :)

Falling for Spring

Photography taken by Peter Adrian

What's going on, readers? I was inspired by my last post for this look. I wanted to put a spring look together using fall colors. What did you guys think of Saks Fifth Avenues Men's Fall 2013 Collections? Were are not even halfway through spring and I am excited to get my hands on their fall clothes!(haha) On to the quick post...
My thrifted button up is by Wrangler. I chose this top because it had a sense of the "mix-media" I had mention in the previous post. The combination is rad! It adds that little hint of detailed pattern. My bottoms are copper chinos I got from H&M, and I paired them with my vintage saddle shoes. I rolled up my pants and wore no socks for more of a spring feel. And there you have it, a simple yet effective look :)

Saks Fifth Avenue: Men’s Fall 2013 Collections

"For Fall 2013, Saks Fifth Avenue will add new lines, new designers and new shops to its iconic in-house men’s brand. Saks Fifth Avenue Black will be joined by a new White collection of modern sportswear and a Platinum collection of couture outerwear. The additions come in response to the remarkable growth of Saks Fifth Avenue’s namesake menswear collection, which made its first appearance in 2009. To house the expanded White, Black and Platinum offerings, Saks is building dedicated shop-in-shops in key markets including New York, Chicago, Boca Raton, Bal Harbour (2014) and Saks Fifth Avenue’s newly opened stand-alone men’s store in Beverly Hills, The Fifth Man."

Saks Fifth Avenue has set themselves apart with their Men’s Fall 2013 Collections. From their innovated use of mixed-media to the details in stitching, I am loving every piece in this collection! Their choice of subdued colors from spring are the perfect way to transition into fall. I was lucky to get an early sneak peek thanks to Caroline M. of Sak's Fifth NY, and I'm overly excited to share with my readers.

Blogger's Choice

This outfit is my favorite out of The White Collection. I am a sucker for varsity jackets. I have about 5 vintages ones in my collection, and I actually just purchased one today. (haha) This mixed-media version of the varsity jacket sports nylon sleeves, a wool body and autumnal berry hues. Fall is a season to keep warm. Saks Fifth's White Collection captures the perfect balance of simplicity and detail making basic layering that much more appealing. Underneath the crew-neck sweatshirt, is a hint of pattern from the striped cotton T-shirt with chest pocket. The bottoms add texture from the lightweight maroon corduroy pants. I would finish the look with any of their shoes from their White & Black Collection.

1. Quilted nylon puffy vest. Diagonal stitch crewneck sweater. Cotton shirt. Bedford cord pants. 2. Wool knit peacoat. Cotton henley. Striped T-shirt. Lightweight corduroy pants. 3. Quilted nylon and wool mixed-media shirt jacket. Microstriped cotton shirt. Lightweight corduroy pants. 4. Leather bomber jacket, reversible to a wool body and leather sleeves. Knit argyle polo. Cotton-blend knit pants.

THE WHITE COLLECTION

The White collection features sportswear that has been tailored, slimmed down and casualized for a new generation of modern gents. “Modern doesn’t have to be clinical and minimal,” says designer Rhett Bonnett, who adds natural, warm elements to the NYC-designed collection. Every piece is streamlined and created to be layered with ease. Run your hand over the fabrics—they’re much softer than traditional dry-touch textiles. Hybrids appear en masse: Sweaters read as outerwear and dress pants are crafted with casual fabrics. The palette includes faded shades like brick, eggplant and deep ocean blue.

1.Extra-fine, lightweight wool scarf. Merino wool V-neck sweater. Mélange yarn shirt with soft brush finish. Chunky wing-tip brogues with lug soles. 2. Cashmere shawl-collar sweater with contrast sleeves and elbow patches. Cotton gingham checkered shirt. Suede chucker boots with studded rubber soles. Mélange grey and multicolored cashmere scarf. 3. Hand-sewn nappa leather gloves with contrast cashmere lining. Left: Cashmere shawl-collar sweater with suede piping and zipper pull. Plaid cotton shirt. Right: Lamb’s wool sweater jacket with horn buttons and antique leather elbow patches and trim. Plaid cotton shirt. 4. Half-zip cashmere sweater with suede piping, spun from Todd and Duncan yarn. Cotton shirt with soft brush finish. Suede chukka boots with studded rubber soles. Mélange multicolored cashmere scarf. 5.Double-faced cashmere scarf. Ribbed cashmere hat. Double-breasted wool peacoat. Cotton shirt. 6. Reversible leather vest. Checkered cashmere scarf. Super 100’s wool flannel pants.
1.Hand-sewn nappa leather gloves with contrast cashmere lining. 2. From left to right: Leather dress shoes with monk strap. Sapena leather dress shoes with silver horsebit. Burgundy lace-up cap-toe leather dress shoes. 3. From top to bottom: Leather Chelsea boots. Lace-up cap-toe brogues. Suede Chelsea boots. 4. Cotton-blend scarves with screen-printed deer motifs.

THE BLACK COLLECTION

The Black collection wardrobes the worldly man, from his cashmere hat down to his Italian leather shoes. The fit is tailored. The look is sleek. Picture up-to-date essentials with a global flair, presented from a distinctly American point-of-view by veteran designer Kim Herring. The Fall 2013 Collection features heritage fabrics sourced from the world’s finest mills: Pima cotton from Peru, extra-fine merino wool from the Zegna Baruffa Mill in Italy, two-ply cashmere from Mongolia and Todd & Duncan cashmere from Scotland.

The classic bomber jacket flies high with ultrasoft matte calf leather and removable beaver fur lining.

THE PLATINUM COLLECTION

The Platinum collection features couture Italian outerwear made from rare leathers and trimmings. Each piece is artisanally constructed, one-by-one, in a small facility specializing in leather goods. The luxe elements include butter-soft Italian nappa leathers, Brazilian corozo nut buttons and removable beaver linings.

Spring Breaker

Photography taken by Peter Adrian

The weather has been amazing lately, and perfect for spring break! Time to hit up the beach and live it up to the fullest. Speaking of "Spring Breakers," the movie is in theaters tomorrow! If not for the story, I will watch it for the beautiful cast ;) I drew a little inspiration from the bright colors and edge portrayed in the trailer for this "spring break" look.
My shirt is an old school Bugle Boy button up that I had thrifted. Amazing find right? (that was rhetorical haha!) Since, I wanted to "highlight" the shirt, I kept the rest of my outfit pretty basic and neutral. I wore a plain white tee underneath, paired with some copper shorts. The Vans I am wearing were a gift from my cousin, and I must say she has great taste. I love how the outer part of the shoe is simple, but contain that splash of colored detail on the inside. The final touches to this look was a woven bracelet and these gnarly wayfarers. I had to keep it gangster like James Franco. (haha)
I hope y'all are enjoying your break so far. I can't wait to hit up Huntington Beach next Tuesday! Every Tuesday, they host a street fair on Main St. with live entertainment and a variety of food stands. Coming from a beach boy, It's my usual routine to visit ;) Check back with me soon! Here is the trailer for the movie...enjoy!
